“If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart”. This is a quote from Nelson Mandela and it reminds me how important it is, also in a global community, to try to understand another person’s language and culture. Connecting with people is the essence of life.

If you study Japanese, it will be helpful to be able to recognize the ‘phonetic element’ in a Japanese character. Learning the Japanese writing system is a challenge. Especially for people used to the alphabet or another phonetic writing system.
